With Thanksgiving around the corner, you might be coming up with a mental list of things you’re appreciative of. From work to a person, you may have many things to mention as you go around the table during the holiday. However, one you should spotlight is your teeth. They do a lot in your daily life, so showing them thanks is a great way to give them love. Here’s how you can show them you care.
Why Thank Your Teeth?
As mentioned above, your teeth do a lot of work every day. They help you flaunt a confident smile, but they are what lets you dig into your favorite foods. In fact, without them, you may struggle to enjoy Thanksgiving and seasonal foods! Instead, you’d have to stick to softer options that don’t require much chewing.
Not only that, but your teeth help you talk. They help with speech clarity, let you join the conversation, and be understood. If you didn’t have them, you’d struggle with pronunciation, which can make you self-conscious.
Better yet, when it’s time for photos, you can show off your grin. That way, you can look back at the pictures enjoying the memories that were made.
How to Show Your Teeth You Care
While your teeth do plenty for you, there are ways you can show them how much you care. Keep in mind these three things and add them into your routine; that way, they stay in great shape for longer.
- Eat a balanced diet. Fruit, vegetables, lean proteins, dairy, and the like are packed with vitamins and nutrients that support your oral and overall health. Your immune system will also be boosted, so it can better fight off infections, like those in the mouth.
- Drink plenty of water. Whether during the holidays or not, having a glass can wash away harmful bacteria and food debris. It also reduces your risk of stains that might happen during the season as you enjoy dark-colored items, like red wine or cranberry sauce.
- Eat Sweets in Moderation. Treats are good to have on occasion, but limiting them reduces your risk of cavities. Not only that, but be picky about which ones you have. Pecan pie is a Thanksgiving classic, but it’s sticky. Pumpkin pie is a better alternative because it has vitamins that encourage gum health.
In the end, don’t forget to visit your dentist before the year ends. That way, you can ensure your oral health is protected for this season and beyond.
